American Flag - Our Flag

I've seen a lot of flag waving the last few days and I typically don't like to use social media to make opinions known, mostly because I figure the lot of you don't care and also because I don't feel that it will actually make any kind of difference. I see people argue and get into heated debates and all it really does is succeed in aggravating one another. This morning I was sitting on my couch watching a little photo slideshow and listening to the end of watch from Officer Sonny Kim's funeral and when I stood up, I looked out my front window and saw this (see image below). You can't tell from the photo, but that's the American flag on the neighboring farm. I can't tell you how long that flag has been there, but it's been a good long while and I can tell you that I have stood up from my couch many times and never really seen this flag. Today it caught my attention and I grabbed my camera. I said all that to say this, I don't care what flag you wave. It will likely never have any effect on my life, but I hope that everyone waving flags this week will remember our flag. The American flag is the reason we all have the freedom to wave whatever flag we want and for that I am thankful. Our nation has always banded together when we are threatened or attacked by outside forces, that's just one of the things that makes this country great, yet we seem to create internal conflicts that only make us weak. People scream racism and discrimination, law enforcement is blamed or accused of unjust behavior almost daily. I can promise that in 11 years of answering 911 calls, I have never asked someone their race, sexual preference, religion, etc...Nor have I ever heard a co-worker do that. It does not matter, I just do the best I can to help...everyone!
Again, I don't care what flags you wave or what your beliefs are, all I hope is that we all be respectful of others and wave the American flag as well, because no matter what color you are, who you want to marry, what church you want to worship in...this flag represents us all and we should all vow to defend it. I apologize for being long winded.

Please feel free to share or pin!

Thanks!
Hanna :)
