Rock the Shot September Photo Challenge

Over at Rock the Shot, www.rocktheshotforum.com, the September photo challenge is “Laughter”.
As soon as I saw the category, I new for sure I would submit a photo from this photo session that I shot earlier this month, but I had a difficult time deciding which image was best. I finally narrowed it down to this one, because I love the look on the boys faces.
This session was so much fun and there really was so much laughter.
They are seriously one of the happiest families with so much love for one another.

Wish me luck, the prizes are awesome!

The Crazy Crabtree's!

Oh the Crabtree’s!
This was easily one of the most fun photo shoots I have ever been a part of. For one reason, this is my best friend’s family and another reason is that we did some of the best poses ever for rambunctious little boys.
Like any good mother, my friend Shanna called me and said she wanted really great family pictures. This picture would be something that she could hang over her new couch and enjoy for years to come. She had a vision in her mind of her youngest son, Bronson, on her back laughing and her oldest son, Elijah, on his daddies shoulders leaning down to kiss her while her husband looked “all cute” as she put it. I laughed, maybe more than I should have, when she told me this. Don’t get me wrong. I love her boys, but posing them was something I knew would be an adventure. As the shoot progressed and the boys grasped for freedom (I totally should have painted their faces blue and put them in kilts…Braveheart in case you didn’t get that reference), the funnier they got. The smiles were much more natural when they were playing between poses and we decided to attempt Shanna’s idea. It didn’t work, so we improvised.
What we ended up with was so cute, so natural, and so….well them! The Crabtree’s!

We have a series of shots in this position. Each one was better than the last! Love them! :)

The Gorgeous Gilbert's

Here are the adorable Gilbert’s!
This is my best friends little brother, his lovely wife, and their beautiful blue-eyed girl, Audrey. (Named for Audrey Hepburn) We planned a shoot back in August and the day of the shoot, the skies opened up with a torrential downpour. It all worked out ok though and we were able to reschedule in mid-September during much cooler temperatures on a beautiful day with mums and pumpkins on hand.
Audrey didn’t really feel like smiling so her Nana, her parents, and her Aunt were behind me jumping and laughing and putting on quite a show for her in a valiant attempt for smiles. It wasn’t entirely successful, but she still looks adorable. I would also like to note that Audrey and her mommy’s eyes are really that color of blue. I did very minimal editing on these three; they really are just this attractive. :)

I was very excited to use a couple of my baby girl headbands!
How cute is she with her feather head dress? :)

Audrey's Mama and Daddy came up with the apple scene. She was actually under an apple tree in her Nana's yard. I thought it was a super cute idea and very fall festive. :)
 Can you believe these eyes?

Her eyes remind me of a big cat, like a tiger. Just beautiful!

Aren't they cute!?

Colton is 2

Here is little Colton and his family. Colton turned 2 the day of the photo shoot. His mama is also pregnant with a new little brother or sister that is due in November. Colton was so much fun and his family was just great and his big brother was a huge help getting Colton to laugh. They had a beautiful location for us to shoot at and despite the very hot weather; we were able to get some really good shots.
Check back in November for pics of the newest little one. J

Really love this shot of Colton and his daddy!

Absolutely loved the setting behind Colton's grandpa's house! :)

Happy Fall!!

Well fall is upon us! My absolute favorite time of year and it is shaping up to be busy, busy, busy. I just started my 5th semester in my MBA program, which officially puts me at the halfway mark. Whew! So happy to be able to say that, but still so far to go. Seeing as how the weather is so delightful and the leaves are beginning to change, I have been super busy with photo sessions. Yay! I also had the annual Corn Festival at the beginning of September. This was my 3rd year setting up and it was my best year yet. I literally doubled sales from last year. Things are going really well and this has got me to thinking about opening an actual studio. There are so many grand ideas floating around in my head, just waiting for one to take root. Anyway, I am going to spend the next little while updating the blog and trying to get my last few sessions posted.
Thanks for stopping by!
